Casting Molds

 

We have been designing casting mold models since we started casting our own pen blanks in 2009. We currently offer our handcrafted Silicone casting molds in Blank, Block, and Tube-In Series. We also have our own line of CNC machined HDPE casting molds (not the less expensive cutting board quality). Our design can be fully disassembled and prevents screws from stripping threads which commonly happens in home-made molds.

If you are looking for something we do not currently carry, just ask!  As veterans of the casting industry, we have tried all the currently available vertical or adjustable plug designs at some point in the past, and we would be happy to share our experience.

Due to the nature of products used to create various casting molds and resin options, we cannot guarantee initial castings will produce a totally bubble / blemish free, glass-like finish. Depending on the casting project involved, there are usually secondary finishing efforts required, such as turning on a lathe, sanding, buffing, polishing, and/or applying a final leveling resin coat to achieve a perfectly clear, smooth exterior for your hand cast resin projects.

Mold release sprays help to extend the shelf life of our molds. We recommend Stoner Thermoset for Polyester and Epoxy Resins, and Stoner Urethane for Urethane Resin.
